Ryegate Landscape Curtains
Landscape patchwork curtain for Ryegate House, a 24hr respite care facility for children with complex needs at Sheffield Childrens Hospital.
We were asked to design and make some feature curtains to compliment the recently installed mural by illustrator marijkeillustration and provide a colourful backdrop to the room when closed.
Inspired by the landscape forms and shapes in the mural we designed a dreamy imagined landscape that carries across the curtains providing interest when both opened & closed.
I’m very lucky to have the calming influence of nature around me where I live and work and I hope that this design will bring some of that feeling into the space for the children who use it.
For practicalities the fabric required for the project had to be both washable and inherently fire proof. We were delighted with the quality of the fabric chosen, having a soft and subtle sheen and a lovely heavy drape which adds to the richness of the design.
