FMG was commissioned by architectural practice Softroom to design and make bespoke upholstery panels for their client Wahaca and their newest addition to the Mexican restaurant chain in Charlotte Street London.
FMG was asked to create a design for the new Mezcal tequila lounge, creating a bespoke design to flow across a feature L-shaped sofa and to create designs for additional seating in and around the lounge.
Taking inspiration from shapes found in traditional Yucatan weaving, we created large scale patchwork panels made up of linking and interlocking triangles and diamonds, constructed from custom coloured leather.
In addition to the sofa, complimentary designs were created for small seating elements which would be dispersed around the lounge.
The project is complete and the restaurant opened in September 2012.
